911 Memorial Service

Under the direction of Commissioner Robert Giangeruso there will be a Memorial Service for all those who perished on September 11, 2001.  The service will be held on Friday, September 10th at 10AM on Delafield Ave at the monument, next to the Emergency Squad building.

Come Play Roller Hockey!
Registration for the Lyndhurst Youth Hockey League 2010 Season will begin in September with opening day for the season scheduled for October 2nd.
Starting this autumn, the Lyndhurst Youth Hockey League will be playing games at our brand new rink on Sparta Drive (off Page Avenue).
Whether you play roller hockey, would like to become a better skater, or just want to try a new sport, all boys and girls are encouraged to join our program. Every player who signs up will be selected by a team and have a chance to play each game.
Registration & Information Sessions
Coaches and league officials will be available to answer questions and register players at the Parks Department on the following days:
Thursday      September 9          6 p.m. to  8 p.m.
Friday          September 10         6 p.m. to  8 p.m.
Saturday      September 11         9 a.m. to  12 p.m.
Monday        September 13         6 p.m. to  8 p.m.
Tuesday       September 14         6 p.m. to  8 p.m.
Registration for youth league divisions is open to all local residents currently in kindergarten through eighth grade. (Note: Interested players currently in high school can register for the Senior Division starting in October.)
To register a player, you will need:
- A completed and signed registration form
- Payment of the $50 registration fee (cash or check payable to “Lyndhurst Youth Hockey”)
- A photocopy of the player’s birth certificate
- A recent photograph of the player (or a copy of a recent photograph)
- Proof of residency (for new players only)

Swimming Lessons with Swim America

Swim America is offering swimming lessons to the Township of Lyndhurst for the Fall 2010 Season, which runs from Sept. 25th to Nov. 12th. Classes will be given on Saturday mornings at 9:30 to 10:10 a.m. and at 10:15 to 10:55 a.m.

Classes will take place at the Lyndhurst Community Pool, located at 400 Weart Ave.  The cost is $130 per eight classes, and checks are made payable to “Township of Lyndhurst.”

Attention: Registration forms and checks will only be accepted at the Park’s Department Office, located 250 Cleveland Ave. You may not register at the pool.

Important Information about PRE-K


The Department of Parks and Recreation, under the Direction of Commissioner Thomas DiMaggio, will be assuming the administration of the Pre-K program for the 2010-2011 school year.   The program will no longer be the responsibility of the Board of Education.

Pre-K will still begin on September 2 and will be located at the Recreation Center at 862 Valley Brook Avenue in Lyndhurst. There will be two sessions per day: Mornings from 8:45 to 11:15am and Afternoons from 12:15- 2:45pm. Before and after care will be available, as well. Parents may register their child for the program if the child will be turning 4-years-old by December 15th.

The cost is $10 per day, paid weekly. Any questions regarding registration, fees or details about the before care and after care may be directed to Theresa Cicero at the Parks Department office at 201-804-2482.
 
Spray Park Closing

As of Tuesday, September 7th, the Spray Park located in Town Hall Park will be officiall closed for the season.

New Health Education Series Begins at the Health Department

The Lyndhurst Health Department, under the direction of Brian C. Haggerty, is pleased to announce their new Health Lecture Series which will begin on Friday, September 24th. This lecture series will be held every Friday from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Lyndhurst Health Department. A free breakfast will be served. Medical professionals from the community will address current health topics. Each session will conclude with questions and answers from the audience.  Afterwards, participants are invited to join the chair yoga classes which start at noon.
