Senior Citizens Activities Parks & Public Property: Commissioner Thomas DiMaggio, Director

Listed are some of the activities held for seniors. More specific details are distributed quarterly in the Parks Department Newsletter.

They will also be listed on the home page of this website, in the South Bergenite, The Observer and The Daily Voice.

  •   Monthly Trips To a Casino - Held on the last Friday of the month from March through October. Tickets are available on the first Monday of the month. Only $25.00 per ticket which includes the bus ride as well as money back in play.
  •   Evening Trips to Broadway plays - Price includes transportation to and from the venue by town bus. Cost varies with the price of the play ticket.
  •   Afternoon Outings for Senior Citizens for lunch and show. One held in the Spring and one in the Fall. Venue may be either at the Stoney Hill Inn, Fiesta or Brownstone.
  •   FREE Senior Citizen Monthly Evening Meal on the last Wednesday of the month from January through October. The event is held at the Carucci Apartments which is located at 281 Stuyvesant Avenue near Willow. Doors open at 4:30 – dinner served at 5:00. Call 201-896-1629 to sign up.
  •   FREE Senior Citizen Afternoon Movies – Held on the first and third Wednesday of each month (except for July and August) at the Senior Citizen Center on Cleveland Avenue starting at 12:00 noon. Pizza, hot dogs, coffee and soda are served. Call the Parks Department if you need a ride (201) 804-2482.
  •   FREE Senior Citizen Afternoon Lunch and entertainment – Held in April at Senior Citizen Center on Cleveland Avenue.
  •   FREE Senior Citizen Breakfast – Held every November on the Sunday before Thanksgiving at the Senior Citizen Center on Cleveland Avenue. Breakfast and entertainment.

Independence Day Fireworks

The Department of Parks and Recreation, under the direction of Commissioner Tom DiMaggio, with the assistance of the International Fireworks Mfg. Company, will be sponsoring the Town fireworks on Sunday, July 2nd, 2017.

The festivities will be held at the Little League Field on Riverside Avenue starting at 6:00 PM.  There will be a DJ, hot dogs, ice cream, zeppoles and novelty vendors for your enjoyment.  A Patriotic exercise will be held at 8:30 PM with the firework spectacular following at dusk.

Summer Soccer Camp 2017

Weeklong Camps - Prices range from $139 - $199. Registration Open Now!

Summer Camps are for ages 5 to 14. A great camp experience for players of all levels.

Music Under the Stars 2017

Commissioner Tom DiMaggio, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, with the assistance of Jerry LaGuardia Entertainment, will be hosting the Music Under the Stars from Wednesday, July 12, 2017 through Thursday, August 17, 2017.  See the schedule below.

FASST - Youth Speed & Agility Program

The Township of Lyndhurst and FASST Present “Youth Speed & Agility Program.”  The goal of the program is to help younger athletes enhance and improve balance, coordination, agility, flexibility, explosiveness and running techniques.

The program is for ages 8 to 14.  It will run for six weeks from July 11th through August 17th on every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM.   They will be held at the Lyndhurst Recreation fields at 862 Valley Brook Avenue.  The cost for early registration is $175.  After June 10th it will cost $199.
