Commissioner of Public Works
Matthew “Matty” Ruzzo has served as the Superintendent of Lyndhurst’s Department of Public Works for nearly 25 years, and has been instrumental in rebuilding and maintaining Lyndhurst’s Infrastructure. After retiring from his post he continues to serve the community as he takes on his first term as the Commissioner of Public Works.
Commissioner Ruzzo is a lifelong resident of Lyndhurst, where he raised his two children Demi and Garen with his wife Gina. He attended Rutgers University for Governmental Services, and maintains a Certified Public Works License, including municipal planning, urban development and public works purchasing. Commissioner Ruzzo is a member of the Bergen County Public Works Administers and the NJ Public Works Association. He is a former coach and umpire for Lyndhurst’s Little League, served on the Lyndhurst Planning Board, and is responsible for the EPA and New Jersey’s Storm Water Reports.
