Mayor Richard J. DiLascio

Mayor Richard DiLascio follows a family tradition of public service to the people of Lyndhurst.  His father, John, served as a Lyndhurst Commissioner in the 1980s and the Mayor’s mother, Rita, has been a community volunteer for years, including her leadership of drug prevention programs for our youth.  Mayor DiLascio is a 1973 graduate of Lyndhurst High School and he received a degree in Secondary Education from Seton Hall University.  In addition, the Mayor graduated from Seton Hall Law School and later earned an LL.M from Temple University Law School.

After serving two terms of the Lyndhurst Board of Education, including two years as Board President, Mayor DiLascio was appointed Lyndhurst’s School Board Attorney.  In that capacity, he oversaw the renovation of Lyndhurst’s public school facilities.  The Mayor is currently the president of the Lyndhurst Education Fund, a non-profit organization that constructed nearly $3 million in new school facilities without spending a dime of taxpayer funds.  Shared services, inter-departmental coordination, written procedures and policies, a stable tax base, controlled redevelopment and upgrading municipal infrastructure, including public school facilities, are among DiLascio’s top priorities as Mayor.
