A Lyndhurst legend and 1987 Lyndhurst High School Hall of Fame inductee, Commissioner Thomas A DiMaggio is taking on his third term as Commissioner of Parks and Public Property. For the last eight years, Commissioner DiMaggio has given the Parks Department a new level of commitment and enthusiasm, and has created and overseen many popular programs for senior citizens and other residents of Lyndhurst including “Music Under the Stars,” various youth sports groups, and Annual Senior Prom among others.
A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Commissioner DiMaggio has brought his management skills as a business owner to his position in the Parks Department, which included creating an initiative to hire certified teachers to supervise young summer camp children. In addition to his work in Parks and Public Property, Commissioner DiMaggio is chairperson for the Lyndhurst Fundraising Committee for “Tomorrow’s Children” Fund, and Lead Loan Officer of Cardinal Financial. Throughout his tenure Commissioner DiMaggio has upgraded the quality of services provided to parents and students while holding the line on his budget. He has two children, Gina and Tony, with his wife Joyce.
