Programs & Information

Rabies Immunization Program

The Lyndhurst Health Department holds two free rabies vaccination clinics during the month of January. Please check the Township website on the Home Page for announcements and dates. As a reminder for when your dog or cat needs to be vaccinated, view the information below.

  • Pets vaccinated in 2014 are due for vaccination in 2017.
  • Pets vaccinated in 2015 are due for vaccination in 2018.
  • Pets vaccinated in 2016 are due for vaccination in 2019.
  • Pets vaccinated in 2017 are due for vaccination in 2020.

Dog and cat licenses are to be renewed every year during the month of January. Any renewal issued after January 31st is subject to a $10 late fee. Rabies vaccinations may not expire before November 1st of that licensing year.

Licensing and Enforcement

Bi-Annual Blood Screening

The Lyndhurst Health Department, under the direction of Commissioner Karen Haggerty, will host its bi-annual blood screening on Friday, December 1, 2017.  Appointments begin at 8 a.m. This blood screening will include a chemistry profile, cholesterol level, blood count, and thyroid level.  This service is available to Lyndhurst residents over the age of 18 for a small fee of $26.00. Pre-registration is required and appointments can be made by calling 201-804-2500.  Payments can be submitted in cash or checks.  Please make checks payable to Medical Laboratory Diagnostics.

“Healthy Holiday Eating” Program

The Lyndhurst Health Department, under the direction of Commissioner Karen Haggerty, is partnering with the ShopRite of Lyndhurst for a “Healthy Holiday Eating” program.  Nicholas Vessichelli, Registered Dietician, will prepare a dish for the participants as well as offer tips on how to enjoy holiday foods while keeping nutrition in mind.  This event will take place on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11AM at the Lyndhurst ShopRite located at 540 New York Avenue.  Please call the Lyndhurst Health Department at 201-804-2500 to reserve a seat.
