Programs & Information

Rabies Immunization Program

The Lyndhurst Health Department holds two free rabies vaccination clinics during the month of January. Please check the Township website on the Home Page for announcements and dates. As a reminder for when your dog or cat needs to be vaccinated, view the information below.

  • Pets vaccinated in 2014 are due for vaccination in 2017.
  • Pets vaccinated in 2015 are due for vaccination in 2018.
  • Pets vaccinated in 2016 are due for vaccination in 2019.
  • Pets vaccinated in 2017 are due for vaccination in 2020.

Dog and cat licenses are to be renewed every year during the month of January. Any renewal issued after January 31st is subject to a $10 late fee. Rabies vaccinations may not expire before November 1st of that licensing year.

Food Safety at Thanksgiving

Commissioner of Public Affairs Karen Haggerty wishes all Lyndhurst residents a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.  The Lyndhurst health department share this release from the NJ Poison Control Center. Medical experts are reminding family chefs to keep food safety in mind when making this year’s Thanksgiving dinner. Food poisoning is quite common, but preventable when following a few simple steps to make safety a priority.

Flu Shots - Additional Date

An additional date for the flu shot has been set for November 28, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lyndhurst Health Department, 253 Stuyvesant Ave.  If you are interested in coming that day please call the health department at 201-804-2500.

Blood Screening

On December 7th, 2018, the Lyndhurst Health Department will host its Bi-Annual Blood Screening, located at 253 Stuyvesant Ave. This blood screening will check for abnormalities in the blood.  The service is available to Lyndhurst residents over the age of 18 for a small fee of $26.00.  Pre-registration is required and appointments can be made by calling 201-804-2500 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Payments can be submitted in cash or check may be made payable to Medical Laboratory Diagnostics.  A copy of the results will be mailed to the participants and their doctor.  Thank you
