Below is a list of activities offered through the Lyndhurst Parks & Recreation Department. You can find information on the Community Pool activities on this website.

For all sports activities, visit your child’s local school website and look for the Parks Department link on the lower left-hand side of the page. General registration information is listed below, however dates are subject to change.


Pool Activities

  • Aquasize classes – Located at the Lyndhurst Community Pool by a Certified Specialist. 12 week sessions held 4 times a year.
  • Pool Membership – We offer a 4 month membership or an annual membership.
  • Swimming Lessons – for ages 4 and up held at the Lyndhurst Community Pool. Eight-week sessions held 3 or 4 times a year.
  • Mommy & Me – for 1 parent with an infant for babies to get used to the water while singing and playing games.

Sports

  • Boys Basketball - Registration held from September through early October offered for grades 2-8.
  • Cheerleading – Registration held in May offered for grades K-8.
  • Flag Football and Football – Registration held in May offered for age 4 for flag football and football for grades 2-8.
  • Girls Basketball – Registration held in October offered for grades 1-2 3-8.
  • Hockey – Registration held in September offered for ages 4-8.
  • LaCrosse – (Instructional) Registration held in February or March and offered to grades K - 8th. Equipment not included in registration price.
  • Little League – Registration usually held in January/February.
    • T-Ball is for boys and girls ages 5 & 6.
    • Juniors is for boys and girls ages 7 & 8.
    • Minors is for boys and girls ages 8-11.
    • Majors is for boys and girls ages 9-12.
    • Senior League is for boys and girls ages 13-16.
    • Softball is for girls ages 5-12.
  • Recreation Volleyball – Offered to grades 5-8. Registration is usually held in September.
  • Soccer – Registration is held in May/June. Offered to grades Pre-K through 8th.
  • Wrestling – Registration takes place in November for grades 1st – 8th.
  • Women’s Volleyball – Registration takes place in August. For ages 18 and older.

Family Fun Night at the Lyndhurst Town Hall Park

The Parks and Recreation Department, under the direction of Commissioner Tom DiMaggio, is coordinating a “Pokémon Go” Family Fun Night at the Town Hall Park.  The event will be held on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rain date of Sunday, May 21st.

There will be 8 lure Pokestops lit for the entire 3 hours!!  Come and catch as many as you can while also enjoying food and snacks to support the Lyndhurst Emergency Squad.

Lyndhurst Day Camp

Lyndhurst Day Camp will run from Monday, July 10th through and including Friday, August 18th.  It is provided to Lyndhurst residents with children in grades Kindergarten through 8th and non-residents with children attending Sacred Heart School in Lyndhurst. Please note:  the child must be going into Kindergarten this September AND 5 years old before July 10th.

Activity booklets will be available at the Parks Department starting Monday, April 17, 2017.  Actual Day Camp registration will start on Monday, April 24, 2017.

Golf Tournament

Commissioner Tom DiMaggio, Director of the Department of Parks & Recreation is hosting the 68th Annual Township of Lyndhurst Roeshke/Rowe/Perry Friendship Memorial Golf Tournament.

Play golf with friends, or renew old friendships!  The event will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Farmstead Golf & Country Club in Andover, NJ.  It is an 8:00 AM shotgun start.

We will only be taking 120 Golfers so register early to avoid being left out.  Entry fee is $100 per golfer.  Price includes Green Fee, Cart, Buffet Luncheon, beverages and prizes.

Trip to the Caesars Casino, Atlantic City

Commissioner Tom DiMaggio, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, is running a trip to the Caesars Casino in Atlantic City, on Friday, May 26th, 2017 from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM.  The $30 ticket will include the bus ride as well as a $20 play voucher.

Carnival in Venice

Commissioner Tom DiMaggio, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation is running a trip to the Stony Hill Inn for a “Carnival in Venice” on Thursday, May 11th, 2017.  The bus will leave from the NJ Transit lot by the Shoprite at 10:30 AM and will return by 3:30 PM.

The $48.50 ticket includes a luncheon consisting of focaccia bread, salad, Pasta, Chicken Parmesan, Sausage and Peppers, mixed vegetables, potatoes, two complimentary drinks, dessert, coffee, tea and soda; transportation and entertainment.  Tip is not included, however.  Suggested tip is $1.00 per person which you leave on your table.

Soccer Camp 2017 - Spring & Summer

Starting in April, the US Sports Institute offers Soccer for Lyndhurst boys & girls ages 2 through 14.
