Food Safety at Thanksgiving

Public Affairs - Health Department - 11/20/2018 3:26:24 PM

Commissioner of Public Affairs Karen Haggerty wishes all Lyndhurst residents a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.  The Lyndhurst health department share this release from the NJ Poison Control Center. Medical experts are reminding family chefs to keep food safety in mind when making this year’s Thanksgiving dinner. Food poisoning is quite common, but preventable when following a few simple steps to make safety a priority.

A Thanksgiving Message from the Mayor’s Desk

AAA - 11/20/2018 10:59:20 AM

On this American traditional holiday of Thanksgiving, we are reminded how thankful we are for all the blessings we enjoy as individuals and as a great country.

It's a day to acknowledge the appreciation we have for the life, love and wellbeing of our self, family, friends and neighbors. It's a time to express our gratitude for the heroic service of our men and women in uniform, and also our veterans for our security of freedom, peace and independence, all of what we are so thankful for.

On this Thanksgiving Day and throughout the holiday season, let us embrace the past (retrieving positive memories and being thankful for elements of childhood or past blessings), the present (not taking good fortune for granted as it comes), and the future (maintaining a hopeful and optimistic attitude).

When we channel our own positive emotions of being thankful and feeling grateful it can bring happiness, purpose and meaning into our lives.

I extend my best wishes to you and your family for a safe, happy and memorable Thanksgiving weekend.
