Bi-Annual Blood Screening

The Lyndhurst Health Department, under the direction of Commissioner Karen Haggerty, will host its bi-annual blood screening on Friday, December 1, 2017.  Appointments begin at 8 a.m. This blood screening will include a chemistry profile, cholesterol level, blood count, and thyroid level.  This service is available to Lyndhurst residents over the age of 18 for a small fee of $26.00. Pre-registration is required and appointments can be made by calling 201-804-2500.  Payments can be submitted in cash or checks.  Please make checks payable to Medical Laboratory Diagnostics.

“Healthy Holiday Eating” Program

The Lyndhurst Health Department, under the direction of Commissioner Karen Haggerty, is partnering with the ShopRite of Lyndhurst for a “Healthy Holiday Eating” program.  Nicholas Vessichelli, Registered Dietician, will prepare a dish for the participants as well as offer tips on how to enjoy holiday foods while keeping nutrition in mind.  This event will take place on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11AM at the Lyndhurst ShopRite located at 540 New York Avenue.  Please call the Lyndhurst Health Department at 201-804-2500 to reserve a seat.

Lyndhurst Food Pantry is Accepting Donations for Upcoming Holiday Season

The Lyndhurst Food Pantry will be accepting donations for the upcoming holiday season. The pantry is in need of cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, canned gravy and vegetables, rice, beans, pasta and pasta sauce, tuna, peanut butter, applesauce and apple juice.  Gift cards, turkeys, and hams are also welcomed.

Please check items for expiration dates. Donations can be made Monday through Friday, 9 am until 4:30 pm. The Lyndhurst Food Pantry regular business hours are Monday through Thursday from 1 PM until 3:30 PM.  To be a member of the food pantry, one must provide proof of Lyndhurst residency and proof of hardship.  Donations are sincerely appreciated.

Thanksgiving Dinner at the Senior Citizen’s Building

The Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a Thanksgiving Dinner at the Senior Citizen’s Building on Cleveland Avenue. The dinner will be held on Monday, November 20th, 2017 at 5:30 PM.  Doors will open at 5:00 PM.  Transportation will be available, so please let us know if you need to be picked up.  Reserve your spot by calling the Parks Department at (201) 804-2482.
