The Lyndhurst Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an organized, enthusiastic, and community-focused individual for the position of Full-Time Secretary. This role is essential in supporting our administrative team and serving as a key point of contact for the public, especially our senior citizens. Responsibilities:
- Perform general office and clerical duties, including filing, data entry, mail distribution, and maintaining office supplies.
- Provide administrative support to department staff and manage department correspondence.
- Assist with budget management, including processing invoices, tracking expenses, and managing financial records under the direction of the department head.
- Serve as the primary receptionist, greeting visitors and answering phone calls in a professional and friendly manner.
- Assist in the preparation of schedules, reports, and presentations.
- Process program registrations and maintain accurate participant records.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Proven experience in office/clerical duties and general administrative assistant skills.
- Demonstrated experience in budget management or financial record-keeping.
- Prior experience working with the public in a customer service or community-facing role is a must.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be able to pass a physical, background check, and pre-employment drug screening.
Strongly Preferred:
- Previous experience working in the education or recreation fields (e.g., school district, community center, non-profit).
- Demonstrated willingness to learn new processes and technology quickly.
- Eagerness to work directly with the public and senior citizens.
Work Schedule and Compensation:
- This is a Full-Time position. Specific hours will be discussed during the interview process, but flexibility is a plus.
- Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
