Commissioner of Parks & Public Properties

David Mateen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Ramapo College of New Jersey, graduating early with magna cum laude honors. Shortly after, he began his legal career through the Two-Year Honors Program at New York Law School, where he successfully advocated for broader academic recognition for non-traditional students.

Following law school, he served as a judicial law clerk in the Criminal Part of the Bergen County Vicinage, playing a key role in the court’s transition to virtual proceedings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2022, he has worked as an Assistant County Counsel for Bergen County, providing legal guidance and representation to Bergen County entities in various types of litigation. David also serves as Counsel to the Bergen County Construction Board of Appeals and previously served as Counsel to the Bergen County Board of Ethics.

As the Lyndhurst Township Commissioner of Parks and Public Properties, David oversees the care, improvement, and accessibility of the township’s parks, recreational spaces, and public facilities.
